CASE 3: SAMSON
Judges chapters
13, 14, 15 & 16
Many a times we
hear people quote the scriptures and allude to Samson’s scenario as the worst
case for choosing a marriage partner. We will take a discussant view of this
real life event and provide some take away, which will expect you the reader to
ponder and develop the best path for your life.
Samson was a
beloved son. He was God’s answer to the waiting family of Manoah. His birth,
conception, delivery, mission and purpose in life were prophesied by God. The
Spirit of God was upon and he increased in the Lord and was well favoured. Samson
was bold and demanded that his wife get him the girl that pleases him. The
demand for his parent to get him a wife is not the issue, it was the lady
demanded for (the daughter of the philistines). God already forbids the Israelites
to marry the philistines. Samson has a soft spot for ladies. His undoing was
the daughter of Timnath and Delilah. He also has soft spot for ladies. Soft
spot is not a problem when you can discipline yourself and know how to control
yourself. Due to soft spot and lack of a team to help advice and keep him on
track he lost his wife.
Samson went in
to commit immorality with an harlot. He forgets Proverb chapter 6 vs 20 to 35.
He was a Nazareth but in one singular moment of emotion and frustration due to
loss of wife, he lost it all. This goes further to prove that emotion is
stronger than knowledge and that there is no superhuman. He could have also
built a team but did not. In the battle against the philistines after his
victory he could not prayed to God with faith but requested from God of water
like a man without faith.
At the end of his
life he prayed and God hearkened unto him and restore to him is power. He
killed more on his death bed than in his life.
