THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BUSINESS AND CHRISTIANITY

Some say Christianity is a religion, some say it is a culture while some say it is a way of life. It is the totality of what God wants his followers to be in this world. Christians are pilgrims in this world and must take Christianity as a business if we want to get to heaven at the end of our life. Punctuality is the sole of business and punctuality is needed in Christianity. Business is profit oriented therefore Christianity must be profit oriented. Though there is distinction between the two profits. Business profit is maximising turnover while Christianity profit is populating Heaven and depopulating hell. Business has vision and Christianity does. The vision of Christianity is to be like Christ.  Business and Christianity has mission. The mission of Christianity is to love God and to love fellow human beings. Business promote the best sales person also Christianity promote the best sales men by giving them the Spirit’s gift and privilege to rare revelation from God. The price for success in both business and Christianity is: decision, determination, discipline and doggedness.

The temptation to be lascivious and drunk with surfeiting in Christianity has been from time memorial, which has led to the fall of great Christians. When we discard the necessity of the 4 Ds we indirectly shoot ourselves in the foot as Christians. The undecided King Agrippa, The indiscipline Samson, The careless young Prophet, The Covetous Achan, The immoral King Saul, the lust-filled King Solomon, The treasurer turn thief Judas and a whole of others has shown us that when we leave the 4 Ds and assume that we can take Christianity with seriousness but with levity then we are a step away from doom.

Some believe so much in fate that they say; if God wants me to get to heaven then he will let me and if he does not I will go to hell. Did they forget that the Bible say, God is not happy at the death of the sinners but want all to repent? Have they forgotten that Christ loved everyone in this world that He gave up everything just to come to earth and save humans? If anybody goes to hell, Christ can no more be blamed but rather the fearful judgment of refusing Christ will be unleashed on such a one. Abraham was disciplined and was decisive in sacrificing his son, Isaac; he never said if God wants Isaac he should take him by himself and not through him. Gideon never fold his hands and say if God wants to destroy the altar in the land he should but he decided to work with God. Paul said ‘I have fought a good fight of faith.’ he remembered Jesus word ‘heaven suffers violence and the violent takes it by force’ He was determined, disciplined and dogged. He said in another place, this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, I press towards the mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus. Job said, ‘I have made a covenant with my eyes while should I look upon a maid’ He was determined to engage in immorality. If Abraham has the same determination perhaps the world will be a little better now. We may not call Christianity a business but the eternal goal of getting to heaven cannot be achieved without the 4 Ds.

To be saved, sanctified, spirit-filled you need a personal decision.
To stay saved, sanctified and spirit-filled you need determination, discipline and doggedness.

We may not call Christianity a business, but as we cannot achieve success in business without the 4 Ds no more can we achieve success in Christianity without them. We can no more behave like the foolish Balaam who wished to get to heaven but ended up fighting against God but rather get decisive, determined, disciplined and dogged.
