A glossary look at history and you will find out that marriage is at the core of creation. God created man with the intention to have dominion, subdue, replenish, procreate and have control over all of life. The ability to achieve all of these is indebted or inwardly link to man being married. Ever before the fall, God knew that only Adam and Eve (even if they live forever) needed other humans in order to have full control and ensure the fulfillment of God's perfect dream for man. God created plant and animals and commanded them to give births to their kinds; therefore it is only a matter of necessity for man to give birth to their kinds also. The only accepted union for man to procreate his marriage therefore marriage is necessary because God never put the cart before the horse. Over 50% of married couples have the desire to procreate as one of their desires in marriage.
Marriage has a cost, which include: commitment, patience, control of one's emotion, financial discipline, provision for child and spouse needs, caring for one's spouse, paying of bills, etceteras.
Marriage benefits include: procreation, pleasure fulfilling, partnering for greatness, age security, etceteras.
Someone said that benefit of marriage can be gotten outside the home why should I marry? Though you could get some of the satisfaction of marriage outside marriage yet the disappointment and regret will never wash away. For the child that was neglected because the child was a product of lust, one night stand or broken home, the regret, frustration and enmity that lingers between the spouse and the child cannot be easily washed away. The availability of pleasure fillers all around and the development of medical research still do not outweigh the eternally regret of enjoying the benefits of marriage outside the confines of marriage. The sure means of escaping terminal and eternal consequences is abstinence for the unmarried and faithfulness to one partner for the married. Social studies teach how man to relate to his environment and Christianity teaches us that we should do unto others what we want to be done unto us. If you crave love then give love. A line in the movie beautiful mind reads 'It is only in the mysterious equations of love that any logical reasons can be found' Religion teaches us to do the right thing and though evil exist in the world yet we should seek and aim for the best at all times. Even if we are product of broken homes we should seek to establish a good home for our children and neighbours.
The benefits of love in marriage can never be overemphasized. Also the necessity of marriage can never be overemphasized. Marriage is good and sweet but when the cost outweighs the benefit then there is a gap or perhaps a reason to leave marriage. Revenge to a wrong partner does not satisfies only forgiveness satisfies. You may decline marriage, negate its provision and enjoy its fruits without being married but all these are costs with great consequences. While not get married and enjoy all its benefits with boundless blessings from God.
