Solomon loved many strange women…’
Why are the women referred to as
strange?
They were called strangers because
they are strangers to the commonwealth of both physical and spiritual Israel.
The women were neither Israelite by birth nor by repentance. They did not love
the God of Israel like Ruth and Rahab did. They were
Sensual
Treacherous
Rancorous
Adamant
Naughty
Greedy
Estranged
from God
Revengeful
Sinful
… yet the wisest man on earth loved
them or should I say, lust after them. Marriage counsellors believed that LOVE
is not enough to make a successful marriage. Compatibility on different strata like
religion, emotion, intelligence and spiritual is required. There was never to
have existed in the first instance anything between King Solomon and Pharaoh’s daughter
and nothing should have made him desire all those strange women but this
reality for the love of strange women shows a deep nature in man that is presence
in the heart of man. The belief that God loves me so much therefore I can do
anything and get away with it. The belief that once I am the favourite and my
Father’s beloved therefore I could do anything and get away with it. Rueben did
it but on Jacob’s death bed he gets more than he bargain for. He was eternally
demoted and cursed. He lost the blessings of the first born. It took God and
the merciful pleading of Moses that “… let Rueben live…” to ensure that the
tribe of Rueben was not finally destroyed. Absalom did it also and though David
would have forgiven him, Joab the son of Zeruiah ended his life. This come as a
direct warning and no matter your gender when you are loved and beloved by God
or by people never let that gets into your head. Never believe you are
irreplaceable. When you believe that you can always do anything and get away.
You will be simply pushing the people that love you to get an alternative for
you and when your alternative arrives; you are done and gone. Never lose your
first love, your first touch and your first humility.
